Joey Chestnut wins Rib Eating Title!
Number one competitive eater in the world, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, downs 8.8 lbs of rib meat in 12 minutes, for a new world record.
LINCOLN CITY, OR— Rain showers did not deter the crowd at Chinook Winds Casino Resort as fans of International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE) star Joey Chestnut gathered to watch him down 8.8 pounds of rib meat at Chinook Winds Casino Resort on Sunday, July 12.
“I feel great, it’s always great to be back here in Lincoln City,” said the 25-year-old Joey Chestnut. “I was able to put down a new record here…the competition pushed me pretty good, and also the people were pushing me hard to eat as much as possible.”
For his eating prowess, Chestnut takes home the top prize of $1500. Second place and the $750 prize went to Seattle native, Erik “The Red” Denmark, who ate 6.7 pounds of rib meat. Third place and the $500 prize was taken by Vancouver, Washington resident Jason Erb with 4.2 pounds of rib meat. Seaside resident and IFOCE competitive eater, Cameron “Consumption” McKirdy finished with 1.5 pounds of rib meat in the 12 minute meat-eating melee.
